Impact Report 2025
The Green Team’s 2025 Impact Report captures just some of the impact made in our 30th year and during our 30 years.
Beyond the numbers, it tells the story of confidence gained, friendships formed, and young people discovering that they can make a real and lasting difference to their own lives and to the natural world.

Transforming Lives
“I love doing this every Tuesday because it clears my mind from other stuff… It’s really hard sometimes but when I come here, it’s just like boom — it’s gone.”
“I joined for the team and stayed for the green.”
The voices of our young people matter; they help us shape and plan what we do and they remind us that time in nature is not a luxury. It is a powerful tool for building confidence, resilience, belonging and hope.
Our annual Impact Report highlights how the Green Team transforms young lives and how we can help to get young people back on their feet.
Looking to the future
There is a growing sense of urgency around Scotland’s biodiversity crisis and the negative effects of climate change on our towns, cities and wider landscape. Scotland is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, ranking 213th of 240 countries in the Biodiversity Intactness Index.
We are becoming more disconnected from nature than ever before. 83% of people in Scotland live in towns and cities; many in areas of high deprivation.
There is growing concern around increased mental health problems of our young people with waiting lists for support of up to 3 years alongside increasing numbers of young people disengaging from classroom-based learning; becoming isolated and disconnected from their peers and from the wider community.
The Green Team Strategy
In a world facing profound environmental and social challenges, long-term impact is more important than ever. The seeds planted in woodland clearings, around shared fires and through practical conservation work do not end when a session finishes. They take root in confidence, in values, in relationships and ignite a sense of purpose.
As we look to the future, The Green Team’s commitment remains clear: to grow access for those that need us most, strengthen learning pathways and ensure that every young person who wants to protect the environment has the opportunity to step outside, learn and grow in confidence.
Our 5-year strategy reflects the voices of the young people and The Green Team’s deep commitment to empowering them through nature-based experiences, fostering environmental stewardship and strengthening community connections.
The Green Team is not only delivering projects — we are investing in people. Young people whose skills, resilience and environmental awareness continue to benefit communities long into the future. Volunteers who grow into leaders. Participants who return years later as mentors, trustees and advocates.
Thirty years on, The Green Team remains committed to creating spaces where young people feel accepted, capable and connected — to nature, to others and to themselves. As this study shows, our impact does not fade with time; it unfolds across the years that follow.
And that is the legacy we are proud to carry forward.
