We are currently actively seeking midweek volunteers to join our team.
The Green Team’s midweek programmes support young people struggling with chaotic lives, low self-esteem or poor mental health. Could you be that special person with the right combination of empathy, patience and enthusiasm to help them on their personal development journey through nature connection? We are looking for experienced volunteers to work alongside our skilled staff team.
We are looking for someone:
- to contribute positively to our small group outdoor programmes with young people
- available 1 day a week, 8.30am-4pm for a block of 8-10 weeks during term-time
- aged 21+
In return you will:
- receive excellent support and supervision from our team
- have the opportunity to take part in free CPD training
- meet like-minded volunteers
- have travel expenses re-imbursed
If you think you fit the bill, please contact Mandy to find out more.
Weekend Volunteering
If you can only volunteer at weekends but would like to be contacted when we have a requirement for more volunteer leaders, please complete the waiting list form and we will be in touch when the situation changes.
If you enjoy spending time outdoors, working with young people and learning new skills whilst making a practical contribution to the environment and your community then we’d love to explore the opportunity for you to become a volunteer leader with us.
All of our programmes rely on volunteer leaders (we have around 50 on our books at any one time) to support our project coordinators in delivering challenging, fun and rewarding outdoor activities for young people. With a wide range of programmes running 7 days a week we have lots of flexibility to fit in with your interests, experience and availability.
We provide training in areas such as health and safety, leadership, outdoor activities and child protection for our volunteer leaders (all for free) so all you need is a sense of adventure, lots of enthusiasm and a little bit of patience.
Adult volunteering days
If you just want to join us for the occasional day of adult volunteering to carry out some conservation work, then check out our TEAM TASK DAYS: look out for our 2025 dates coming soon!
In addition to volunteer leaders, we have a wide range of opportunities for volunteers who may wish to help or develop skills in broader roles within the Green Team, such as:
- photography and videography: capturing our programmes for promotional material and website content
- fundraising: taking on sponsored challenges or helping with community fundraising eg supermarket bag-packs
- stores: maintaining our equipment and keeping our stores tidy
- administration: supporting project and customer administration
We wouldn’t be here without our volunteers who generously give of their time, talents and so much more. We can’t thank them enough.
Waiting list contact form (weekend volunteering)
If you are ready to apply (weekday volunteering only): complete the application form and Mandy will be in touch as soon as possible.
If you want to find out more: contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Mandy who will be happy to help.
The Green Team is committed to reducing inequality, valuing diversity and enabling inclusion. We have also signed up to The Volunteer Charter through Volunteer Scotland which helps to ensure that volunteers are engaged in meaningful, inclusive and legitimate tasks which do not undermine the role of paid workers.
We welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, particularly where we are under-represented. Currently, this includes people who identify as having a disability, and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
