Join our Skylarks programme (previously known as Green Angels) and enjoy spending time in some beautiful outdoor places, learning about nature and making improvements for wildlife. Skylarks encourages positive wellbeing through environmental volunteering, gentle nature connection and spending time with others. Projects promote confidence and the development of outdoor and social skills. The programme is open to girls* aged 12-18.
Projects are led by the Skylarks Project Co-ordinator and are supported by adult volunteers. In a safe and supportive environment, girls can just be themselves, exploring and experiencing new things without fear or anxiety. The programme runs once a month on Saturdays throughout the year with some full weekend residentials.
In addition to weekend activities we run midweek school projects. Meeting once a week over the school term, the group will work together to make practical improvements to greenspaces and take part in a range of activities that help to develop skills and build confidence and resilience.
We provide tools and equipment, waterproofs/boots if required and full safety instructions for the task ahead. Transport is provided by minibus from a central location.
Skylarks also supports the achievement of the Volunteering and Skills sections of the DofE Award, and the John Muir Award. The programme is about having fun experiences in the outdoors, making new friends and a positive difference to the environment.
Costs for the day are £16 (or £4 for a low-income household). There are free places available, please get in touch with Sarah if you would like to join in but can’t manage the costs.
* We welcome trans and non-binary young people on Skylarks.
