Edinburgh Volunteer Manager of the Year – Mandy Craig

We are delighted to announce that Mandy Craig, The Green Team’s Volunteer Co-ordinator, was awarded the Paul Bennett Volunteer Manager of the Year earlier this month. The Volunteer Edinburgh Awards were held on 1st June at the City Chambers with awards presented by Robert Aldridge, Rt. Hon. Lord Provost of The City of Edinburgh.
Mandy has been recruiting, supporting and developing volunteers with the Green Team for over 17 years. Mandy’s dedication to her role made her an outstanding choice for this award.
We rely on volunteers to maximise our support for the young people we work with. Mandy skilfully matches our volunteers to the different projects we run for the best fit.
She motives and inspires and provides regular check-ins. She tailors her support to individuals from different backgrounds and levels of experience.  During the covid pandemic Mandy worked tirelessly to ensure our volunteer leaders’ wellbeing was supported. Mandy started online nature connection sessions and in person catch-ups in nature when restrictions allowed.
One of our volunteers said:
‘From day one I felt I was welcomed into a community with open arms, supported, appreciated and encouraged. I could not have foreseen how enjoyable volunteering with the Green Team would be’.
Thanks to Volunteer Edinburgh for this great award and thanks to all our wonderful volunteers.
