Green Volunteers, Green Angels and Green Explorers all set to restart in August

Young people keen to get back outdoors will be delighted to hear that The Green Team is set to restart its mainstream programmes in August.  Green Volunteers, Green Angels and Green Explorers will all restart in August and our Holiday Activity Week at the beginning of August will also run.

There are only a few places left on our Summer Activity Week which is running from 3rd-7th August.  We are limiting the group size to 9. As a result of covid-19, participants will spend the week at one site – Bawsinch Nature Reserve in Duddingston. It’s a closed site abundant with wildlife and habitats to explore.

The first project from our year-round calendar to kick off is a Green Explorers day for young people aged 8-12 years who can enjoy a day at Bawsinch Nature Reserve on the 16th August.

Next up is the first Green Volunteers session on 23rd August with site details being confirmed soon.

Green Angels also returns on August 29th with a visit to Wells O’Weary in Holyrood Park.

Young people will be pleased to hear that much of what we do will be familiar. But there will, ofcourse, be some modifications to our programmes to meet current government guidance.

Some changes you should be aware of when we restart:

  • All participants will make their own way and meet at the project site, rather than meeting at Tynecastle and travelling together in our minibus.
  • Group sizes will be smaller (Green Angels and Green Volunteers maximum of 8, Green Explorers maximum of 10)
  • Social distancing will be required until guidance changes for 12-17 year olds
  • Increased hygiene measures will be in place

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.
