Thank you to the many who joined us for a lovely evening on the 28th October to hear about Pete’s Pedal, shadowing the Scottish Watershed by bike over the summer. If you weren’t able to join us then fear not! We have uploaded the recording of the evening so you can sit back, relax and enjoy it again and again.
Peter completed his challenge on the 11th September, arriving at a foggy Duncansby Head, 24 days and 950 kilometres after leaving from the Scottish Borders. During his talk Peter shared some of the special moments during his journey:
“There were a bunch of raspberries waiting for me to arrive”
“Yes, I lay down in the sun, in the beautiful wildflowers and had a nap!”
“I received such kindness from people”
“I love the Crask Inn. It’s off the grid, very remote but I’d give it 5 stars”
As well as smashing his challenge Peter also exceeded the high target set for the fundraiser raising £5,163 which is going to support young carers to enjoy time in nature with The Green Team. The programme will start in the new year using nature for respite, connection with other young carers, learning new skills and having fun.
Laura, development worker at Edinburgh Young Carers Project said of Peter’s achievement:
“I just want to say I’m truly inspired by everything you have done for our young people. You have become a legend in my team!
Our young people have really enjoyed time with The Green Team staff and volunteers and they can’t wait to go camping next year!”
On behalf of Peter, The Green Team and young carers across Edinburgh and The Lothians,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
