to the new Green Team Training Programme for 2012. All courses are free to Green
Team Volunteers unless otherwise stated. Places must be booked through the office

details). Course: Emergency First Aid One Day Course (BELA Standard)
Date: 5th February 2012 (Sunday) Venue:
Bangholm Ourdoor Centre, Edinburgh Times: 9.00am 5.00pm This
is a wonderful 1 day certificated course of First Aid in the Outdoors which is
being created for the Green Team. The instructor is Brian White. Loads of practical
sessions, senarios and an instructor who is very personable. Only 12 places available
so sign up quick. Bring a packed lunch, coffee & tea provided. Course:
Child Protection Course - Mandatory Training Date:
13th February 2012 (Monday) Venue: Tynecastle High School staff room Times:
6.30 9.00pm This course will familiarise volunteers
with the Child Protection guidelines, explore values and attitudes to child abuse
and look at case studies and signs of abuse. The course has been specially developed
to focus on working in the outdoors with young people and is very relevant to
our work. This is a mandatory course for all Green Team leaders. Course:
Green Team Volunteers Conservation Residential Weekend Date:
20-22nd April (Friday- Sunday) Venue: Lagganlia Outdoor Centre, Highlands Times:
Depart Friday evening return Sunday 5pm Cost: £15.00 A
very special Green Team Residential where there are no participants. An opportunity
to carry out various conservation tasks and experience a variety of environmental
activities. Accommodation is in wooden wigwams and a self catering cottage. Lots
of time to catch up socially and get to know other Green Team Volunteers. Event:
Annual Green Team Ceilidh and AGM (Fundraiser) Date:
24th Feb (Friday) Venue: St Brides Centre, Dalry Edinburgh Times: 6.30pm
start for AGM and then Ceilidh starts at 8.00pm 12.00pm Cost: Ticketed
Event - £10 / £7 Conc Join us for
a very special night as we dance along to Heeligoleerie. We Kick off at 6.30pm
with our Annual AGM A chance to hear from the GT Staff and Volunteers about
whats been happening in 2011. All welcome. Then join us for a glass of wine
and some nibbles before we head to the dance floor. Bar provided by St Brides.
Tickets can be bought by contacting the office. Course: MiDAS (Minibus
Drivers Awareness Scheme)Dates: Various dates throughout
the year. Location: LCTS Harry Lauder Road , Portobello Times: Classroom
sessions 9.30 1.00pm (then on road session) Cost: Free to Green Team
volunteers MiDAS is the nationally recognised
standard for minibus training. It comprises an on-road driving assessment, plus
classroom-based training. Any Green Team Volunteer who has a D1 status on their

John Muir Award Leader TrainingDate: 18-19th April
2012 Location: Wiston Lodge, near Biggar, The Borders Times: Tbc Cost:
£120 / £80 (£40 to GT volunteers) This
two-day residential course gives a thorough introduction to the relevant skills,
knowledge and approaches needed for delivering the John Muir Award scheme. Course:
Forest SkillsDate: September 8th 2012 Course leader:
Kate Hedges Location: Dalkeith Country Park, Midlothian Times: 10.00am
4.00pm Learn how to follow tracks and trails, build
shelters , the essence of fire lighting and knot tying. The day will cover a variety
of Forest Skills and Outdoor Survival Activities to share with groups. Bring a

May 12th 2012 Course leader: Sara Rasmussen Location: Vogrie Country Park Times:
10.00am 4.00pm Join us as we explore a huge variety
of games that you can play in green spaces. From environmental energisers to team
building and team challenges. Bring a packed lunch. Course: Exploring Nature

An invitation, to explore nature using a variety of
environmental activities Using your senses, environmental art and science to work
out whats going on in wild places. This is a fun day with many practical
activities to share with groups. Event: Green Team Gathering Date:

one event of the year, that you cant afford to miss. Join us on this celebration
day which will include workshops , activities , networking and scrumptious food.
