The
Green Team relies on volunteers to lead our day and residential projects. Volunteers
usually have some experience of conservation work or youth work. Without the support
of these leaders, the work of the Green Team would not be possible, and we are
very grateful for your continued support!
If
you would be interested in working with 14-25 year olds through a range of environmental
activities and could spare 5 or 6 weekends a year then please get in touch. Experience
of running conservation tasks and working with young people is useful, but training
can be given in first aid, leadership, conservation skills, minibus driving, environmental
games and activities and the John Muir Award. The projects are free, and we provide
training at no cost whenever possible (see Training
programme). "Just
a quick note to say a massive thank you to you for the fantastic weekend at Wiston
Lodge. I had such a brilliant time and gained so much from the weekend. I was
amazed by how much enthusiasm everyone had and it was truly infectious! The organisation
that must have gone in to such a weekend must have been phenomenal and its a credit
to you both that everyone had an amazing time! I am really looking forward to
my first Green Team adventure and feel excited, confident and organised to do
it! Thank you again." Mellony Bertram,
volunteer leader I
went from one weekend having never picked up an axe to the next weekend standing
in front of a group of teenagers teaching them how to use it. Alison It
is great to work with other Green Team leaders and participants who come from
all different backgrounds and who have all come to Green Team for different reasons.
You get to hear everyones story and their hopes and dreams for the future.
It expands your own ideas and ambitions in life. Alison "The
Green Team has offered me the chance to contribute something of myself to the
enjoyment and development of the kids on the projects whilst providing me with
new skills and experiences of my own." Nelly "Volunteering
with the Green Team has been a fantastic opportunity for me. I have been able
to spend time outdoors doing something valuable and enjoyable, whilst also learning
new skills. I have made great friends and really enjoy being part of a team of
volunteer leaders." Kim Home
