the woodland habitat.

18th Burdiehouse Burn Get stuck in clearing out the burn and improving
the local woodlands.

1st East Lothian woodlands Improve the woodland habitat by clearing invasive
species and thinning the trees.

22nd Lord Ancrums Wood, Newbattle Get stuck into a day of rhododendron
clearance and build a fire to toast marshmallows.

13th Hopetoun House Clear away the invasive plants and improve the footpaths.
Meet and feed the resident deer colony.

27th Almondell Country Park Help the rangers carry out some woodland management
tasks in this lovely West Lothian Country Park.

3rd Vogrie Country Park Help the rangers maintain the footpaths and steps
in the park and find out about the local birdlife.

in the walled garden.

17th Longniddry Take a stroll along the John Muir Way cutting back vegetation
and invasive plants.

26th Craigleith Island A boat trip to the island to remove tree mallow
and save the puffins. Free entry to the Sea Bird Centre, North Berwick.

2nd Binning Wood Rhododendron clearance on a big scale. Practise den building
and look out for the red squirrels.

23rd Roslin Glen Find out which tree is which plus woodland management
tasks at this lovely Midlothian glen.
October
7th River Almond walkway Autumn tree planting along the River Almond walkway.

21st Blackness Castle Pond clearance, wildflower planting and hedge maintenance
besides this historic castle.
November
4th Pencaitland railway walk Clear overhanging branches from the walkway
and give the pond a clear out.

18th Lochore Meadows Country Park Learn the art of coppicing and hurdle
making to help manage and improve the woodlands.
December
2nd Water of Leith Make improvements to the paths and habitats at Craiglockart
Dell. Warm yourself around the fire at the end of the day.

1st-6th Kintail Surrounded by the mountain landscape of this Highland estate
work with the local rangers to plant trees and carry out improvements to the woodlands
and footpaths. Accommodation in the Kintail Outdoor Centre. Cost: £175.

2nd-7th Ben Lawers Explore this stunning National Trust for Scotland property.
Practical tasks will include upland tree planting, fence removal and habitat restoration.

and path work to improve Currie Woods with the Woodland Trust. Late night entertainment!

8-9th Barnside Farm, Abbey St Bathans Improve hedgerow and woodland
habitats on this upland organic farm. Plus fossil hunting on the local beach.
Cooking in the Village Hall.
October
27-28th Vogrie Country Park Autumn at Vogrie is a magical experience. Help
clear out the ponds and find out about the wildlife about in the park.
